Dystonia
Dystonia is characterized by an involuntary muscle contraction which causes body parts to twist uncontrollably in affected patients. Living with dystonia can be challenging and its symptoms may interfere with a patient’s daily tasks. Ranging from mild to severe, dystonia types are categorized broadly by specialists into two groups depending on the age of onset. For patients whose muscle contractions begin in youth, their dystonia type is often inherited and the entire body is typically affected.
